Myanmar - a people under oppression

"...satellite images confirm reports of burned villages, forced relocations and other human rights abuses in Myanmar..." from American Association for the Advancement of Science.

In our modern advancement of science and society, we read of wholescale destruction of mankind and their dwellings by a government which is meant to protect and care for the people.

Someone once said that a governing body for a country should be elected by the people, comprised of the people and purposed to be for the people. But here we read of an oppressive regime which has no qualms of quashing humanity like you would squeeze juice out of an already dehydrated orange.

What should the international community react? We may not have guns and bombs to change the fate of a nation, but nonetheless, our voices raised in unison should show our disfavor and displeasure for the way the military junta has responded to a peaceful march.

Would you give your voice? Would you say or pen your opinion? As the proverb goes, "the pen is mightier than the sword." Can you make a comment which can be weighed for a better future and a more peaceful world?

Maybe, you can write to your paper about your disgust, and your words may prompt others to take positive action for the poor Myanmar people. Can you help?
