Hotel Sofitel Metropole Hanoi

What can you say of such a French colonial-style hotel? What else can you add to in description except that it is a hotel fit for kings and  ministers. In fact, in the history of the Hotel (formerly called Hotel Metropole and started in 1901), many ministers and dignitaries have placed their heads on their fine beds and experienced the warmth of authentic hospitality. Many other hotels will do well to emulate their second  mile hospitality. Sometimes, the way they treated you can make you feel embarrassed. They even ask me what type of feathers I would like to have in my pillows ! Wow !

This is  truly a 6 star status hotel (though they only had a 5 star plaque). Except for the on-going renovations at the outdoor Cafe Bar, everything else is in place. However, don't forget you are paying for it. For a paying customer, it is USD$268 per night. The luxury that you get does not come free, but actually from your own pocket. But, thanks be to God we got to stay free when we won two nights stay at this wonderful palace.

I want to send  my appreciation to Mr. Fancois Lievens, Assistant Front Office Manager, who was so gracious to allow all four of us to stay in one of the Opera Rooms. They had strict restrictions to limit only to three guests per room. Being a top notch hotel, I believe they had to guard their high classed reputation, I guessed.
