Badaling Great Wall of China

On our recent trip to Beijing, one of the most memorable places that we have visited was the Badaling Great Wall.

The Great Wall of China is one of the greatest symbol of China. Of all the sections of the Great Wall, one of the most accessible and marvelous-for-viewing section, is the Badaling Great Wall. It is located in the Yangqing County which is about 60 km northwest of Beijing, the capital of China. Most hotels and travel agencies would make this stop as one of their must-have itinerary. The Badaling section stands at a very strategic point during the early years because it was considered as one of the highest point of view for the army of China. They are able to see all the enemies round about them before they can even approach the capital. Along one part of the Badaling section is a very important pass called the "Key to the North Gate of Beijing" which is the strategic pass for protection.

In 1961, the Badaling Great Wall was listed as the national first key cultural relics protection unit.

In 1987, the UNESCO announced the Great Wall as one of the world's cultural heritage.

In 1991, the Badaling Great Wall as appraised as one of the "40 Best of China's Tour Attractions".

In 1999, it received the "State 4A - Level Scenic Spot"

In 2002, it was awarded two World Guniness Records, one is for receiving he most number of tourists, and the other is for receiving the most state leaders.

The Badaling Great Wall is comprised of Guan City and its affiliated walls. The walls were constructed by using stones and bricks lining up all along the mountain points. At the proper strategic locations, there are city platforms, wall platforms and enemy-watching watchtowers. The engineering feat speaks well of the ancient China's construction skills.

The Badaling Great Wall also comprises many scenic passes which are very spectacular all throughout the different seasons of the year painting exceptional sceneries.

In Spring, there are mountain wild flowers and apricot flowers blooming everywhere. In Summer, the mountains roll will greenery carpetry. In Autumn, all the leaves turn red and yellow coloring the hills; and in Winter, the mountains are covered with snow.

All in all, the Badaling Great Wall continues to receive great world leaders and people from every continent in this world.
