In Britain, there could be a big change in the law on organ donations. Britain's top doctor is expected to call for people to automatically donate when they die. At the moment there aren't enough livers, kidneys and hearts to go round. There are 7,000 people on the waiting list. On average one of those dies every day.
In Malaysia, there is an avalanche of organ donation after the story of Hui Yee stayed on the front page of The Star lately. Presently, all donations are still voluntary. You are not forced to donate if you are unwilling, even though you actually have no physical control over those who may take away your organs once you are not around on this side of the world anymore.
How would you react if Malaysia would to follow Britain's precedence of compulsory organ donation? Does that mean that the body belongs to the state once the spirit leaves the body?
Would your religious beliefs affect such compulsory donation?
