Jordan bombings

The suicide bombings at Amman, Jordan killed at least 57 people and wounded nearly 100.

Again we find sick people killing innocent lives.
These people think they can find God's favor by killing innocent blood.

Yesterday we heard about the mastermind Dr. Azahari being killing in a shootout with the Indonesian police. Azahari was the man behind the bomb trainings for equipping suicide bombers and was implicated in the Bali bombs, Marriot hotel bombs and and several others.

A previous statement issued "They vowed to die and they chose the shortest route to receive the blessings of God". Azahari's wife said that her husband had left the family to seek a higher calling and service to their God called Allah. What kind of sick beliefs are this that a God can take delight in killing innocent people.

The bombers suspected in the Amman event are Abu Khabib, Abu Muaz, Abu Omaira and Om Omaira.
Al-Qaeda issued a statement to say that they bombed the hotels(Grand Hyatt, Days Inn and Radisson SAS hotels) because they felt that the hotels were used to discuss wars on Islam.

Did they kill Bush? No.
Did they kill Rice? No.
Did they kill Putin? No.

Who did they kill?
The dead that were identified from Grand Hyatt, Amman alone were:
33 Jordanians
6 Iraqis
3 Palestinians
2 Bahrainis
1 Saudi
1 American
1 Syrian-born American
1 Indonesian
2 Chinese

Also, a Jordanian wedding was going on at the hotel and it caused carnage at the wedding reception. Hey, these are local people, Jordanian - with many of them Muslims.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, visited Jordan on Friday, and said: "No ideology can justify the killing of innocent people."

Can we hear a loud Amen from the international community.

Here are several quotes from around the world:

US PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH

These barbaric acts again demonstrated the terrible cruelty of the terrorists and the great toll they take on civilised society. To the people of Jordan and King Abdullah, we pledge our full support in their efforts to bring the terrorists to justice. Jordan is a key ally in the war on terror and will have all assistance we can offer.

EU FOREIGN POLICY CHIEF JAVIER SOLANA

The devastation that terrorist madness has provoked... among innocent people is unjustifiable. Terrorism is an aggression to the values shared by all of us.

UK FOREIGN SECRETARY JACK STRAW

My immediate thoughts go to the families and friends of the many who have been murdered or injured in such indiscriminate attacks. I have written to his majesty the king of Jordan expressing our deepest condolences. We must stand together in this battle against the scourge of terrorism.

JAPANESE FOREIGN MINISTRY

Terrorism cannot be justified for any reason. Our country reiterates our strong condemnation against such cruel acts of terrorism that victimise many innocent people.

PALESTINIAN PRIME MINISTER AHMED QUREI

We condemn this attack vehemently. It's a criminal attack that targeted innocent civilians.

POPE BENEDICT XVI

Deeply saddened to learn of the cruel acts of violence and disrespect for law and human life perpetrated in the city of Amman, the Holy Father sends heartfelt condolences.

UN SECURITY COUNCIL ENVOY

The Security Council condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist bombings that took place in Amman.

FRENCH PRESIDENT JACQUES CHIRAC AND SPANISH PRIME MINISTER JOSE LUIS ZAPATERO

With this cowardly strike on Jordan, the terrorists seek in vain to strike all those who have chosen the path of peace and dialogue, of democracy and tolerance.

TURKISH FOREIGN MINISTER ABDULLAH GUL

There is need for firm international co-operation in the fight against terrorism.

NATO CHIEF JAAP DE HOOP SCHEFFER

There can be no justification for this pointless destruction, and Nato will continue to work with Jordan and the entire international community to combat the scourge of terrorism.

UAE PRESIDENT SHEIKH KHALIFA BIN ZAYED

The United Arab Emirates... offers its solidarity and all its capabilities, and asserts that these cowardly crimes will only increase Jordan's steadfast stand in the face of terrorism.

IRAQ GOVERNMENT SPOKESMAN LAITH KUBBA

Before yesterday it's fairly clear there was some kind of sympathy for these fundamentalists in Jordan. I hope it will be a wake-up call to ordinary people about what is really going on in Iraq, so they will know the reality of the fundamentalists and terrorists.

KING BHUMIBOL ADULYADEJ OF THAILAND

I am greatly saddened by the news of the tragic bombings in Amman, which have caused considerable loss of lives... Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and sincere condolences for this tragic incident. I also wish the wounded a speedy and safe recovery.

NEW ZEALAND PRIME MINISTER HELEN CLARK

Terrorist attacks of any kind must be condemned, but those which target innocent bystanders are particularly abhorrent. Our sympathies go first and foremost to the people of Jordan, and those suffering as a result of this attack.

Delhi Bombings - where next?

Delhi Bombings - where next?

Three bombs exploded simultaneously in the Indian capital, Delhi, on Saturday, killing 62 people and injuring 210.
On Monday, India has indicated that Islamic militant groups based in Pakistan, or having links to them, were involved in the bombings.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said India expected Pakistan to act against terrorism while in a telephone conversation with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf.

Such sophitiscated and concurrent attacks - with three bombs going off in succession and with great intensity - could only be the work of a few groups known to them. Chief suspects are on several Kashmiri Islamic militant groups such as Lashkar-e-Toiba, one of the most powerful groups and based in Pakistan.

In view of such carnage, it seems not wrong that Delhi should blame Pakistan for harbouring groups that were behind the attacka. Pakistan was quick to condemn the attacks too, describing it as barbaric. And hours after the blasts, both countries announced a landmark agreement to open border in disputed Kashmir, to allow relief to reach victims of the recent earthquake. India and Pakistan have been involved in a long-running dispute over the territory of Kashmir. At least some good has come out of this afterall.

So who is behind this latest attack?

A group calling itself the Islami Inqilabi Mahaz (Islamic Revolutionary Group), claiming to be based in Kashmir, says it carried out the attack.

Have you noticed that the Saturday bomb blasts in Delhi were targeting innocent civilians instead of political and government buildings like in the past. The middle class Indians were just out shopping in view of the Deepavali festive holidays that were round the corner. One of the reasons could be that it is now increasing difficult for the terrorists to target highly secured government facilities. This spells bad news to us, civilians.

Extra armed police have been sent to patrol the streets and residents have been urged to stay alert. Meanwhile, the United Nations has condemned the triple bomb blasts and called for those behind them to be brought to justice. Many leaders from other Islamic nations have also condemn the blasts. Can we see more concrete action, please?

As a civilian, my anxiety is after Delhi, where next?
Nowadays, it is no longer a shock and a surprise to witness little children and teens being brainwashed to carry suicide bombs into crowded areas because they are told that it is the quickest way to go to heaven. My question is how much are the moderate Muslims acting against this type of terrorism. (If they do not take up the task of policing these Islamic militants, then do not brand the US as anti-Islam when they do). Terrorism knows no boundaries and does not distinguish among races/religion.

With such advance in technology in manufacturing minute- nuclear bombs, the reality of destroying humanity with several widespread attacks is coming true. Many suicide bombers would be willingly pleased to carry nuclear bombs to kill 100,000 people even 300,000 with the opinion that Allah will be more pleased rather than just killing 62 in a marketplace.

Bali Bombing Again?? When is this going to stop?

Bali Bombing again? When is this going to stop?

Didn't the Indonesian government once said that there is no terrorism in Indonesia and the public echoed that it was an American ploy to discredit and destabilized the country? Then why does the Indonesian government had to sign two emergency decrees enacting anti-terrorism legislation. Is the whole world as blind as mice to noticed that Indonesia is a hotspot for terrorism - in view of its lax rules and lack of political will to stamp out the menace. Indonesia government and Indonesian people are not doing enough! Is it because the Indonesian government has been very reluctant to crack down on Islamic fundamentalists, fearing a backlash of disturbances across the country?

Most of the Muslims in Indonesia belong to the moderate group of Islam followers but there is a strong and small group of Islamic militants who are getting bolder and bolder being encouraged by the ease at which they can escape with their notoriety. The militants are not international terrorists from the Middle East and who knows where but they are bred in its own motherland just like piranhas being bred in lake gardens.

South East Asian countries will be affected and lumped in together with the unrest in Indonesia unless it is seen by the whole international community that the whole neighboring countries will form a sort of alliance or coalition against terrorism.

Moderate Muslims need to be educated that terrorists are not true Muslims and do not follow their teachings in the true sense of the word. They should rise up in unison against these enemies and drive them out and give them no place in their lives. Let's not hide behind the cloak of brotherhood because there is no agreement on the issue of terrorism and bombings. Don't you know that many Muslims are also killed in the cowardly terrorist acts and bombings? Come on, you are the majority. Why let a few minority destroy your livelihood?

Unless there is a strong determination to exterminate such pests, like in farming, all kinds of building and planting to build up the society will not be possible. You do not need the once draconian anti-subversion laws in the Suharto-era to govern your lives.

UK PRIME MINISTER TONY BLAIR

"I condemn in the strongest terms today's appalling attacks in Bali. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families..."

US SECRETARY OF STATE CONDOLEEZZA RICE

"The United States condemns the terrorist bombings today in Bali that claimed innocent lives and injured many more..."

JAPANESE FOREIGN MINISTRY

"Terrorism cannot be justified for any reason. The government of Japan reiterates its firm condemnation of atrocious terrorism that victimizes many innocent people..."

AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER JOHN HOWARD

"The people who did it don't care about who they hurt or kill. I see it very much as part of an ongoing attempt by terrorists to undermine democratic Indonesia. It should be seen primarily as an attack on Indonesia."

MALAYSIAN FOREIGN MINISTER SYED HAMID

"These people may be Malaysian by citizenship but they are not with us. I hope the Indonesians are successful in investigating and catching these two men..."

FRENCH PRESIDENT JACQUES CHIRAC

"France in the strongest possible way condemns these hateful acts."

SPOKESMAN FOR UN SECRETARY-GENERAL KOFI ANNAN

"The Secretary-General strongly condemns today's bombings on the Indonesian island of Bali. He is dismayed that Bali has yet again been the scene of terrorist outrage almost three years after the attacks of October 2002."

GERMAN FOREIGN MINISTER JOSCHKA FISCHER

"The German government sharply condemns today's inhuman attacks."

IRISH FOREIGN MINISTER DERMOT AHERN

"I utterly condemn this barbaric attack which was deliberately designed to kill and injure innocent people."

PHILIPPINES PRESIDENT GLORIA ARROYO

"We have limited the movements of terrorist cells and kept them on the run. But the price of freedom is perpetual vigilance."
