Greatest injustice of all

it's appalling
it's presposterous
it's ridiculous
it's st00pid

what is? this is...
http://www.st701.com/colleenexposed/

background info~ st701.com an online marketplace's latest gimmick. they get miss singapore 2006 to live in a glass house at an mrt station (ie very public place) and watch ( voyeur) how she proceeds to conduct a 'normal' life getting all her necessities and wants online through st701.com
IMHO, its stupid. yets its brilliant( the gimmick i mean)

some of us are just blessed with good looks that gains us that much sought fame weall try to stretch beyond 15 minutes. some of us claw our way to the top of the social ladder through hard work, great personality, luck whatever. whatever it is. you're there. you have power, money, fame, influence..everything we're all looking for today right.
what i dont understand is how some people can just wallow in their little comfortable world up there and enjoy their blessings. ie they ..erm..spend excessive money on unnecessary luxuries, eating in the best restaurants in town every meal, buying shoes shoes and more shoes, ..in other words. living a world of excesses.
now dont get me wrong. im not saying if you have money power and fame, you aren't allowed to enjoy the fruits of you labor. that you should deprive yourself of your favourite lobster dish because the rest of us are deprived not-by-choice

im saying get your priorities right you selfish people. and live moderately

case study 1 is the above-mentioned beauty queen

what a pity... these days beauty queens cant be called dimwits anymore. if you see their qualifications: studying phD and saving the dolphins! wow!

yet with all that brains, that fame and influence thanks to god-given good looks. i think she should have some civic responsibility. she should be more aware of other people's needs around her. causes that require media spotlight and attention to really gain support. why not raise money for some poverty campaign. or highlight the need for breast cancer awareness. instead you're ABUSING your good looks to sit pretty in a glass cage so that you can be admired?

it just saddens me that some people have the power and the means to actually contribute to others. to help others who really aren't just average, their so unfortunate. it requires powerful people to be able to change other people's lives significantly. she can do so much more. she has the opportunity to! she could confine herself to a wheelchair for a week instead and invite others to watch how she struggles to highlight the plight of the disabled. that's of course if she really wants the voyeur attention.

my gosh! with great power comes great responsiblity. i think power is just wasted on people like her. no concern at all for the lesser of us. concern only about ourselves. enjoy the lavishness of her power. take pole dancing classes. do you know that pole dancing is a source of livelihood for some poor girls? and it's your pastime!( by the way i have an opinion that exercising, expecially in gyms, is the epitome of narcissicim but thats another story)

so wasted on her. now thats what really is unjust in this world. not just unfair that some of us were born into desperate circumstances. but unfair that other people who aren't have no heart for us. a

nother case study 2: famous blogger XX
her blog nowadays is so full of crap. 'oh my! i painted my room pink! whee!'

another girl who this time earned her fame. sure maybe it was all these posts that gave her her fame in the first place. maybe its cause people enjoyed reading all these insights into a babe's life. so thats why she was famous. maybe she's just trying to maintain her popularity. after all she's a blogger by profession. yet its high time she took a step back and saw herself in the position she is in. position of power and influence. its high time she stopped just thinking about herself; what with all the latest purchases of the latest pink prada, hermes, channel whatever.

another one. pity she shot to fame and not some other blogger with a heart for people. then maybe that some other blogger would put her influence to good use instead and adopt a cause close to their heart. selfish is the word. living in her own comfortable world when she could easily touch and change other people's lifes..

as for their excessive lifestyle. its DISGUSTING. dont give me nonsense of 'i-cant-help-it-im-stuck-on-the-hedonic-treadmill'. your lifestyle is your choice. i always believe wealth is a blessing. a blessing to be shared with others. and moderation is a lifestlye to be admired. to the person who has the means to pamper oneself yet has the willpower and the good sense not to, congratulations.

like i told someone, some of us want to make a difference but dont have the power to do so. its a pity other people who have the power to make a difference in the world dont do so.

i seriously hope Paris Hilton is serious about her reform to make a difference in the world.
and thumbs up to people like Angelina Jolie. that's star status given to a deserving candidate.

as for people like me. in between, not famous, not powerful, yet not entirely useless, the first step is to have an awareness and concern for others. from then on, you'd just discover opportunites to help others, no matter how small, no matter how futile it may seem in the big picture.
its better than nothing.

on another note, i think living in a glass cage as an advertising gimmick brings voyeurism to a whole new level. its SHALLOw and just reeks of insecurities. of requiring public acceptance and approval to gain self-confidence
