Le Pub Hanoi

During one of our walks at the Old Quarter of Hanoi, we came across this little obscure club/cafe called "Le Pub" which really stands out amongst the rest of the old traditional architecture. The design of the cafe is chic and urban and very modern too. It is located on 25 Hang Be Street, Hanoi Old Quarter. We had our lunch there at the back of the dining hall, and were very much at home. It does not feel like you are in Hanoi but you may feel transported into a cafe in Amsterdam or Rome, because the deco is so European!

Anyway, when the food came, it was mouth watering. It is so western and quite large portions as well. After digging in and enjoying the ambience of the place, we decided to hang out a bit longer by soaking in the wall paintings and pictures together with hangings which were filled with their own designer T-shirts. There was wifi at the cafe too. I had the preconceived idea that Hanoi was old, traditional and very village-like not really expecting wifi all over the place.

Besides us there was a Caucasian lady busily hackling on her Acer notebook. She was cordial and friendly and even helped in calling the waitresses when we needed help. I think she must be one of the staff of iTravel office which is actually on the first floor of the cafe. After enquiring, we were actually told by the waiter that iTravel (a traveling and tour company) owns Le Pub.

A very pleasant surprise awaits when I went to the toilet. It was clean, well ventilated and they had an daily updated weather forecast printed and framed at the wall besides the washing sink! That was very thoughtful and helpful to those who would like to know the daily innings of the weather.

Anyway, if you are in Hanoi, this place is worth visiting even for a short rest inside. By the way, they did not ask me or pay me to write about them. It is just that, the memories at the cafe were sweet and lasting.

Cheers.
